A 12-point socket with a 1/2-inch square drive and a 14mm socket size, made from chrome vanadium steel. Designed for use with ratchets and torque wrenches in workshop and industrial applications.
The chromium and vanadium content of the steel alloy increases hardness and wear resistance. The material retains its strength properties during prolonged use under load, which matters when undoing seized or corroded fasteners.
Twelve points of contact with the nut spread the forces over a larger area than a 6-point profile. It allows the socket to be positioned every 30 degrees instead of every 60 degrees, which makes work in confined spaces easier. It requires a precise fit to avoid rounding off the edges of the fastener.
The process of shaping metal under high pressure produces a uniform material structure free from voids and inclusions. Forging increases mechanical strength compared with casting, which matters when transmitting high torque.
Sizing the socket before heat treatment compensates for thermal deformation. The hardening process increases surface hardness but can cause minimal dimensional changes - calibrating beforehand ensures that dimensional tolerances are maintained once production is complete.

The socket works with all 1/2" ratchets, speed braces, extensions and universal joints. Before use, check that the 14mm size matches the nut or bolt head - using a socket of the wrong size will damage the edges of the fastener.
Before fitting the socket onto a nut, make sure that the internal profile is clean and free from contaminants. A 12-point socket must be fully seated on the fastener - if it is not fully engaged, the edges may round off when torque is applied.
After working in a damp environment or coming into contact with chemicals, clean the socket and apply anti-corrosion protection. Chrome vanadium steel is corrosion-resistant, but prolonged exposure to moisture can cause surface oxidation.
Do not use the socket as a lever extension or strike a wrench with a hammer while the socket is fitted - such actions exceed the permissible loads and can cause the material to crack. Impact sockets with a thicker wall are designed for impact work.
