A long-reach 1/2 inch impact socket with a 32 mm hex opening, designed for use with pneumatic and electric impact wrenches. Model YT-1052 from YATO is intended for applications requiring access to deeply seated fasteners.
The 1/2" (12.7 mm) standard ensures compatibility with the majority of pneumatic and electric impact wrenches used in workshops. This drive size strikes a balance between torque and versatility.
The 32 mm size corresponds to the nuts used in steel structures, industrial machinery and heavy goods vehicles. It is commonly found on chassis and drivetrain fixings.
The deep/long-reach version allows work on fasteners that protrude above the surface or sit in recesses. This design allows the socket to be fitted over bolts with long threads or protruding studs.
Impact sockets are made from chrome molybdenum steel with increased resistance to impact loads. This material absorbs the shocks generated by impact wrenches, minimising the risk of cracking and distortion.

The socket works with impact wrenches that have a 1/2 inch drive. Before use, check that the torque of the tool is suitable for the 32 mm size. Typical air impact wrenches rated at 600-800 Nm provide sufficient force for this socket size.
Impact sockets require regular lubrication of the joint where the socket meets the tool's drive. Graphite grease or penetrating oil is recommended, as this reduces wear on both the socket and the tool's drive. After each use, clean the socket of contamination and check the condition of the hex opening for signs of wear.
When working with impact wrenches, avoid letting the impact run for too long, as this can overheat the socket and weaken the mechanical properties of the material. For heavily rusted connections, apply penetrating fluid beforehand and use short bursts with pauses.
Impact sockets differ from standard sockets in having thicker walls and a matt finish. Standard sockets should not be used with impact wrenches, as they can crack under impact loads. Impact sockets can be recognised by their characteristic black phosphate coating or dark oxide finish.
