A short-length impact socket made from CR-MO chrome molybdenum steel. Designed for use with pneumatic, electric and cordless impact wrenches in automotive workshops and industrial service environments.
Technical features
CR-MO chrome molybdenum steel
A material used in impact tools because of its high resistance to dynamic loads. The addition of molybdenum increases the steel's flexibility, so the socket absorbs impacts instead of cracking. The material's hardness is maintained even under intensive use.
1/2" square drive
A 12.7 mm (1/2 inch) drive fitting – the standard for professional workshop tools. Compatible with most impact wrenches and ratchets used in automotive mechanics and industry.
6-point (hex) profile
The internal hexagonal profile distributes force evenly across all edges of the bolt or nut. This reduces the risk of rounding off the corners of the fastener, particularly with worn or corroded bolts.
Short design

Differences between CR-MO and CR-V steel
Impact sockets require a material that withstands cyclic impact loads. Chrome molybdenum steel (CR-MO) differs from chrome vanadium steel (CR-V) in its mechanical properties:

When should CR-MO sockets be used?
If you are using an impact wrench (pneumatic, electric or cordless), the socket must be made from CR-MO. CR-V sockets are not designed for impact use and may crack under dynamic loads.

Use and maintenance
Tool compatibility
The socket works with impact wrenches fitted with a 1/2" square drive. Before use, check that the tool has sufficient power – wrenches with too little torque may not cope with seized bolts, while ones that are too powerful may damage the thread.
Retention
The pin hole allows a steel retaining pin to be used, locking the socket onto the square drive. A useful solution when working in hard-to-reach places or overhead, where the socket falling off could be dangerous.
Maintenance
After use, clean the socket of dirt and dry it. Periodic lubrication of the drive fitting prevents seizing on the square drive. Impact sockets do not require any special maintenance – simply check the condition of the internal profile regularly for signs of wear.
