Professional long reach impact socket designed for use with pneumatic and electric impact wrenches. Made from CR-MO chrome molybdenum steel, it offers durability in industrial and workshop conditions.
The extended body length provides access to bolts and nuts recessed deep inside mounting points where standard sockets cannot reach. This design is used when working on suspension components, deep-dish wheels and braking systems.
Chrome molybdenum steel combines hardness with flexibility. The molybdenum content increases resistance to cyclic impact loads and prevents cracking under sudden forces – unlike the chrome vanadium (CR-V) steel used in hand tools.
The internal six-point profile spreads force across the flat faces of the nut, minimising the risk of rounding off the corners. It provides a secure grip at the torque levels generated by impact wrenches.
The cross hole in the body allows a retaining pin to be fitted, preventing the socket from slipping off the drive accidentally when working at height or in a vertical position.

The choice of socket material has a direct effect on durability and safety when working with impact tools.
| Property | CR-MO (chrome molybdenum) | CR-V (chrome vanadium) |
| Impact resistance | Very high – designed for impact loads | Limited – intended for hand use |
| Flexibility | Higher – absorbs impact energy without cracking | Lower – may crack in a brittle manner under impact |
| Surface hardness | Retains its properties under cyclic loads | Suitable for static torque |
| Application | Pneumatic, electric and cordless impact wrenches | Hand tools, manual ratchets |
The molybdenum content in the steel increases its ductility, meaning its ability to deform under load without losing structural integrity. In practice, a CR-MO socket absorbs the impact energy generated by an impact wrench instead of transferring it to the material as stresses that lead to cracking.
Checking compatibility: The 1/2" drive fits impact wrench drives, ratchets and extension bars with the same square drive size. Before first use, make sure the socket seats securely on the drive.
Torque matching: 1/2" sockets are normally used with wrenches with a torque of up to 600-800 Nm. Exceeding these parameters may damage both the socket and the fastener.
Cleaning: After working in dusty conditions or with exposure to chemicals, clean the socket with a wire brush and rinse it with solvent. Any contamination left behind may prevent the socket from seating correctly on the drive or in the bolt.
Storage: Impact sockets should be stored in organisers or on magnetic rails, away from moisture. CR-MO steel is corrosion resistant, but prolonged contact with water may cause surface oxidation.
