A 1/4" drive socket with an E8 external Torx profile, made from chrome vanadium steel to the DIN 2124 standard. Designed for use with torque wrenches, ratchets and screwdrivers with a 1/4" drive.
Features of the E8 Torx socket
E8 external Torx profile
The external star Torx profile is used for tamper-proof screws with a Torx socket. The E8 designation specifies the profile size – the smallest in the external Torx socket family, used in electronics, precision engineering and tamper-resistant security fittings.
1/4" drive
The 1/4" (6.35 mm) drive is the smallest standard in the socket system, used for work requiring lower torque. It is compatible with ratchets, impact drivers, torque wrenches and extensions with the same drive.
50BV30 chrome vanadium steel
The 50BV30 CrV alloy combines the properties of chromium (corrosion resistance, hardness) and vanadium (wear resistance). The hardened and tempered material provides flexibility while maintaining surface hardness, which minimises the risk of cracking under sudden loads.
Surface finish
The socket has three finishing zones: polished (head – easy to clean), shot-blasted (body – corrosion protection) and knurled (grip zone – better control during manual assembly). Finish to the DIN 2124 standard.

The difference between Torx and external Torx
Standard Torx (T) has a recessed star in the screw – the socket has a protruding profile. External Torx (E) works in reverse: the screw has a protruding star and the socket has a recess. E profiles are mainly used as safeguards against unauthorised access, because they require a specialist tool.
Compatibility and use
The socket works with all tools that have a 1/4" square drive. Before use, check that the E8 profile size matches the screw – an incorrect size can damage both the socket and the screw head. When removing rusty or seized screws, use a penetrating oil and increase the torque gradually.
The DIN 2124 standard specifies dimensional tolerances, material hardness and torsional strength. Sockets compliant with this standard ensure repeatable dimensions and safe use with torque wrenches.
