YATO YT-1431 1/4" Extension Bar, 102 mm
A 1/4" square drive extension bar allows you to work in hard-to-reach places where standard sockets or spanners do not provide enough reach. The 102 mm YT-1431 forms part of socket sets and torque screwdriver kits.

The 1/4" standard in hand tools
The 1/4" (6.35 mm) size is a widely used standard in socket sets for light assembly work. The extension bar works with ratchets, torque screwdrivers and sockets of the same size. It is well suited to electronics, precision engineering and work on small components.
102 mm working length
The 102 mm length provides extra reach when working on fasteners seated deep in holes, behind covers or in recesses. This makes it possible to reach bolts in mounting recesses, behind panels or in engine bays without having to dismantle the surrounding components.
Material and finish
The extension bar is made from chrome vanadium steel with a chrome plated finish, which protects against corrosion when working in damp conditions or where chemicals are present. Chrome plating increases surface hardness and reduces friction when fitting sockets.
Compatibility with socket systems
The extension bar has a 1/4" male square drive at one end and a 1/4" female square drive at the other, so it fits between the ratchet and the socket. A spring-loaded ball detent holds the socket on the extension bar, preventing it from slipping off when working vertically or at an angle.

Using and maintaining the extension bar
Checking tool compatibility
Before use, make sure that both the ratchet and the socket are 1/4" drive. Differences in manufacturing tolerances can cause play or excessive resistance when fitting them together. The ball detent should hold the socket with a perceptible click.
Torque and loads
1/4" extension bars are intended for light work with torques of up to around 40-60 Nm, depending on the quality of manufacture. Exceeding these figures can damage the male tang or the female drive. For higher torques, use 3/8" or 1/2" extension bars.
Maintenance and storage
After use, clean the extension bar of dirt and residual oil. The chrome plated surface does not require additional lubrication, but in high humidity environments a thin film of protective oil is advisable. Store the extension bar in its socket set or in a place where it is protected from drops and impact.
