1/4" x 25 mm Torx T40 Screwdriver Bits YATO YT-78147 – 10-piece set
A set of ten Torx T40 bits with a 1/4" hex shank and 25 mm length, made from S2 tool steel. Designed for cordless and electric screwdrivers as well as magnetic bit holders, for work with star-recess screws.
Technical characteristics of the Torx T40 bits
Torx T40 profile
The six-lobed star profile transmits more torque than standard cross-head screws. The T40 size corresponds to an outer diameter of approximately 4.85 mm and is widely used in the automotive industry and in furniture assembly. The profile stops the bit from slipping out of the screw recess.
S2 tool steel
S2 is a silicon-chromium alloy with a hardness of 58-62 HRC, developed specifically for the manufacture of screwdriver tips. It offers high resistance to twisting and bending, which translates into a longer bit life under intensive use. This steel is more durable than standard CRV carbon steel.
1/4" hex shank
The 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) hex shank is the standard in power tools and hand tools. It ensures compatibility with most cordless screwdrivers, magnetic holders, adapters and bit sockets available on the market.
25 mm working length
The standard 25 mm length allows work in typical assembly conditions. Bits of this length are compact enough for work in confined spaces while keeping the screw steady. The total length of the bit is approximately 25 mm.

How to check compatibility
Before buying, check the size of the screw recess. The Torx T40 profile fits only screws marked T40 – using a bit that is too small (e.g. T30) or too large (e.g. T45) will damage the recess or the bit itself. If in doubt, use a bit gauge or measure the recess diameter with a vernier caliper.
Maintenance and use
S2 steel bits require basic maintenance to preserve their working parameters. After working in damp conditions or contact with corrosive substances, clean the bit and dry it. The anti-corrosion coating protects against rust, but prolonged storage in damp conditions can damage it.
During use, set the torque of the screwdriver according to the material and the screw diameter. Excessive torque can strip the screw recess or twist the bit. If the tip becomes worn – with the profile edges rounded off – replace the bit to avoid damaging the screws.
The 10-piece set provides a working reserve, which is particularly important under intensive use. Individual bits can be stored in tool organisers or magnetic holders mounted on the workshop wall.
