A specialist tool for fitting and removing spark plugs in deeply recessed engine wells. The 250 mm length provides access to spark plugs in locations where standard sockets are not long enough.
The 250 mm length allows work on engines with deeply recessed spark plugs, as found in modern multi-valve cylinder head designs. It removes the need to dismantle additional engine components.
The CrV steel alloy offers increased hardness and wear resistance. This material withstands repeated torsional loads while maintaining the socket's dimensional accuracy throughout its service life.
A built-in magnet holds the spark plug during fitting and removal, preventing the component from being dropped into the engine bay. Particularly useful when working in a vertical position.
The socket's reduced wall thickness allows the tool to be inserted into tight installation spaces around the spark plug, where standard sockets may clash with engine components or ancillaries.

The 16 mm size corresponds to spark plugs with an M14 thread and a 16 mm hex. To check compatibility, measure the flat section of the spark plug body (hex) or check the marking in the vehicle documentation. Typically used in 1.0–2.5-litre petrol engines.
Before use, check the condition of the magnetic tip and make sure the socket is free from mechanical damage. When working, a torque wrench should be used to tighten the spark plugs to the torque recommended by the vehicle manufacturer, typically 20–30 Nm for M14 plugs.
The socket should be used with a ratchet or 3/8" bar with a handle of suitable length. When removing seized plugs, it is worth applying a penetrating fluid and waiting a few minutes before attempting to undo them.
After each use, clean the socket of dirt and oil residue. Storing it in a dry place prevents corrosion. Periodically checking the condition of the magnet and inspecting the material for cracks extends the tool's service life.
