A complete set of titanium-coated drill bits designed for working with a range of metals. The pack contains 170 pieces in a variety of diameters, providing the right tool for every application.
The titanium layer increases the surface hardness of the drill bit and reduces friction during drilling. This translates into a longer tool life and the ability to work at higher speeds without overheating.
The set includes drill bits in a variety of sizes, which removes the need to buy individual bits. This makes it possible to drill holes of different diameters without changing tool sets.
The titanium coating offers greater abrasion resistance than standard HSS drill bits. As a result, the cutting edges stay sharp for longer in service.
A correctly formed clearance angle and rake angle ensure efficient chip removal while drilling. This reduces the risk of the bit seizing and makes the machining process easier to control.

Titanium coating (TiN — titanium nitride) is a ceramic layer applied to the surface of the drill bit by vacuum deposition. It raises surface hardness to around 80 HRC, a significant increase compared with unpolished HSS.
Reduced friction between the drill bit and the workpiece lowers heat build-up during drilling. This allows work at higher rotational speeds and increases the number of holes drilled before the tool needs replacing. The coating's distinctive gold colour makes titanium drill bits easy to identify in a tool set.
To preserve the cutting performance of titanium drill bits, the correct machining parameters must be used. The rotational speed should be matched to the drill bit diameter and the type of metal being worked — excessively high speeds can overheat and damage the coating.
When drilling steel, the use of a coolant or lubricant is recommended. This extends tool life and improves the quality of the hole produced. Aluminium and non-ferrous metals can be drilled dry, although using a coolant also brings benefits.
The drill bits should be kept in their original packaging or a dedicated organiser that protects them from moisture and mechanical damage. Avoiding contact with other metal tools prevents chipping of the cutting edges.
Once work is finished, it is worth cleaning the bits of swarf and any residue of the material being worked. Regularly checking the condition of the cutting edge allows wear to be detected early and worn items to be replaced as part of a planned schedule.
