20kW 230/400V diesel generator — KD3246
The KD3246 is a three-phase generator powered by a diesel engine, intended for standby and professional power supply to premises that require a stable source of electricity. A rated output of 19 kW (20 kW maximum) allows several loads to be supplied at the same time, both single-phase and three-phase.
Technical characteristics
Two-cylinder air-cooled diesel engine
An air-cooled diesel engine needs no liquid cooling system, which simplifies operation and reduces the risk of failures caused by coolant leaks. A compression ratio of 20:1 ensures reliable ignition even at lower ambient temperatures.
Microprocessor-controlled smart throttle
The control system automatically adjusts engine speed to the power currently drawn by the loads. Under light load the engine runs more slowly, which translates into lower fuel consumption and reduced mechanical stress on the drive unit.
230V and 400V sockets
The generator is fitted with one 230V socket and two 400V sockets, which allows single-phase equipment (such as lighting or power tools) and three-phase equipment (electric motors, pumps, welders) to be powered at the same time. This removes the need for external distribution boards in typical applications.
Electric start and oil warning light
Electric starting lets you start the generator without physical effort — important with regular use or in winter conditions. The oil warning light indicates when topping up or an oil change is needed, protecting the engine from running without adequate lubrication.
Fuel tank and running time
A 25-litre tank provides up to 8 hours of running at full load. Fuel consumption of 290 g/kWh is typical of diesel engines in this power class. At partial load — thanks to the smart throttle — running time is extended.

How to match a generator to your needs — practical advice
When choosing a generator, add up the power of all the equipment that is to be supplied at the same time, then allow for the starting factor — electric motors draw three to seven times more current at start-up than in normal operation. The 19 kW rated power of the KD3246 allows a system with a total load of up to approx. 15–17 kW to be supplied safely, with a reserve for current surges when equipment starts up.
Operation and maintenance
The engine requires SAE 10W-30 oil (CD grade or higher). The oil should be checked before every start — the oil warning light indicates an incorrect level, but a regular visual inspection is recommended practice. The oil filter should be changed according to the schedule given in the operating manual. The generator is fitted with transport wheels, which makes moving a unit of this weight class easier.
The generator should be used in locations with adequate ventilation — a diesel engine emits exhaust fumes that must not accumulate in enclosed spaces. A noise level of 73 dB is comparable to that of a domestic vacuum cleaner — with prolonged operation near the unit, hearing protection is recommended.
