Three-arm workshop wrench for removing oil filters, with a 3/8-inch drive. Designed for servicing work on motor vehicles, it grips filters from 65 to 110 mm in diameter securely and allows them to be unscrewed.
Three arms spaced evenly around the axis provide a secure grip on the filter and spread the tightening force evenly. This design minimises the risk of the tool slipping when working on a badly seized filter, which is a common problem with two-arm wrenches.
The 3/8" square drive is the standard size used by most workshop ratchets. It allows the wrench to be used with typical garage equipment, including ratchets, extension bars and torque wrenches with the same drive fitting.
The adjustable diameter range covers most popular oil filters fitted to cars, vans and motorcycles. The arms expand or contract to suit the size of the filter, which removes the need to keep several fixed-size wrenches to hand.
The tool is intended for routine servicing work associated with engine oil changes. It allows filters to be unscrewed safely even in hard-to-reach places, where limited space rules out the use of standard strap wrenches.

Before starting work, make sure that the diameter of the filter falls within the 65-110 mm range. Set the wrench arms to the width of the filter, fit the tool onto the filter and attach the ratchet to the 3/8" drive. When unscrewing the filter, apply steady force and avoid jerking, which can damage the filter housing.
Before buying, it is worth measuring the diameter of the oil filter on the vehicle. Most car filters fall within the 70-95 mm range, although some van models may require wrenches with a larger range. If in doubt, the filter dimensions can be checked in the vehicle's technical documentation or confirmed with a mechanic.
After every use, clean the wrench of residual oil and dirt. The 3/8" drive should be lubricated periodically to ensure smooth operation with the ratchet. Store the tool in a dry place, protected from moisture, which can cause corrosion of the steel components.
