A cable reel extension designed to power electrical devices in the garden, on allotments and in the workshop. The 40-metre length lets you work freely with power tools well away from the mains supply.
A cross-section of 1.0 mm² refers to the conductive area of a single conductor. On this extension reel it is sufficient for a 2300 W load once the cable is uncoiled. On longer cables, a smaller cross-section means a greater voltage drop, so avoid connecting appliances whose power rating is close to the maximum.
A coiled reel can carry only 900 W, whereas an uncoiled one can carry 2300 W. This is because cable wound into coils heats up. Operating above that load without uncoiling can overheat the insulation and damage the cable.
A maximum current of 10 A at 230 V gives 2300 W. This value determines which appliances can be connected safely — for example an electric lawnmower (1500–1800 W), a chainsaw (2000 W) or a garden pump (800 W).
The IP20 marking indicates basic protection against solid foreign objects larger than 12.5 mm in diameter, with no protection against water. The socket and plug are not designed for contact with moisture — protect them from rain and splashes.
Before connecting appliances rated above 900 W, always uncoil the extension reel fully. Check the combined power of the connected appliances — it must not exceed 2300 W. Avoid use in damp conditions without additional protection.

Before each use, check the condition of the cable insulation — cracks or chafing make the extension reel unfit for use. Uncoil the cable fully when the load exceeds 900 W to prevent it from heating up. When you have finished, wind the cable back evenly, avoiding kinks and twists.
Protect the socket and plug from moisture. When working in rain or on wet ground, use additional covers or residual current devices. Do not leave the extension reel in the sun for long periods — UV degrades the PVC insulation.
Store the extension reel in a dry room, away from heat sources. Periodically check the mechanical condition of the reel and the socket. Do not repair a damaged cable with insulating tape — replace the cable or the entire extension reel.
