The KD4002 is an extension lead with five sockets, each fitted with its own switch, an overload cut-out and child safety shutters. Copper wiring and a flame-retardant housing ensure reliable operation in both home and office settings.
Each of the five sockets has its own switch. This lets you cut the power to selected devices without having to pull out the plug — handy for AV equipment, computers or chargers left in standby mode.
It automatically cuts the power if the strip's permitted load is exceeded. This protects connected devices from damage caused by excessive current draw or a short circuit.
Copper has low electrical resistance, which translates into lower energy losses and a more stable voltage at the sockets. Compared with aluminium or alloy wiring, copper is also more resistant to oxidation.
The housing is made from flame-retardant materials, which reduces the risk of fire in the event of a fault. Socket shutters stop children from pushing objects into the sockets, which matters in rooms used by young children.

Before buying, it is worth adding up the power ratings of the devices that will be plugged in at the same time and comparing the total with the maximum load of the strip (given on the packaging or rating plate). Extension leads with an overload switch respond automatically when this limit is exceeded, but they do not replace the fuse in a home's wiring. A 5 m cable is enough for most standard-sized rooms, so there is no need to daisy-chain additional extension leads.
