Metal dowel centres for accurately transferring drilling points between mating components. A set of four 8mm centres with sharp points, intended for joinery, assembly and finishing work.
Machined from metal, the centres are rigid and resist deformation through repeated use. The metal construction keeps the point sharp over a long service life, which translates into consistent results.
The precision-ground point leaves a clear mark on the surface of the material, allowing accurate drilling at the marked point. The sharp tip bites into wood, MDF and chipboard without slipping.
The universal 8mm diameter matches the typical assembly holes found in furniture and timber constructions. It is compatible with standard furniture dowels and assembly screws used in joinery.
Four centres in the set allow all the fixing points in a typical furniture or construction joint to be marked at once. This means components requiring four fixing points can be worked on without repeatedly repositioning the tool.

The centres are placed in pre-drilled holes in the first component. With the second component offered up to the first, light pressure or a tap with a hammer leaves marks on the surface of the second component. These marks indicate the exact positions at which the assembly holes should be drilled, ensuring the mating parts fit precisely.
The 8mm centres fit holes drilled with an 8mm drill bit, which is the standard in system furniture and dowel joints. Before use, make sure the diameter of the centre matches the diameter of the holes drilled – the play should not exceed 0.5 mm if the marking is to remain accurate.
After use, clean the centres of wood dust and any other contamination. Storing them in a dry place prevents corrosion of the metal surface. Checking the sharpness of the points at intervals maintains precision – blunt points can be sharpened with a file or on a grinder.
