Abrasive belt on a cloth backing with aluminium oxide grain, designed for intensive sanding work. The P50 grit ensures rapid stock removal when working on wood, metals and selected plastics.
Features of the YATO YT-83203 Abrasive Cloth
P50 Grit – Coarse Sanding
The P50 grit (355-425 micrometres) is classified as a coarse-grade abrasive. It is used for the rapid removal of excess material, levelling uneven surfaces and removing rust or old paint. It is not suitable for surface finishing.
Cloth Backing – Mechanical Strength
The cloth backing is highly flexible and resistant to tearing. The material withstands heavy loads when working on sanding machines and can be shaped to contoured workpieces without cracking.
Aluminium Oxide – a Universal Abrasive
Aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃) grains are among the most widely used abrasive materials. They have a hardness of around 9 on the Mohs scale, which allows most workshop materials to be worked. During use the grains fracture, exposing new sharp edges.
Roll Format 200mm x 50m
The 200 mm width matches the standard dimensions of sanding machines. The 50-metre length allows the abrasive to be cut repeatedly to the required size, which lowers running costs compared with ready-made endless belts.

Applications of P50 Abrasive Cloth

Preparing the Belt for Use
Before use, cut a suitable length of the abrasive and join the ends into an endless loop to match the dimensions of the machine. Special abrasive belt adhesives or adhesive tapes resistant to mechanical stress are used for joining. The quality of the joint affects the evenness of sanding and the service life of the belt.
Use and Maintenance
When working with P50 abrasive belts, dust extraction equipment is recommended, as coarse sanding generates large quantities of dust. The material should be stored in dry rooms at a temperature of 15-25°C, away from sources of moisture. High humidity weakens the bond between the grain and the backing and shortens the service life of the belt.
Sanding efficiency depends on belt speed and applied pressure. Excessive pressure causes overheating and premature wear of the grain, while too little pressure extends the working time. Optimum operating parameters should be selected according to the hardness of the material being worked.
