A set of four high-speed steel (HSS) drill bits with adjustable countersinks, designed for pilot-drilling holes for countersunk screws in wood and plastics. The bits are ground, which ensures consistent cutting-edge geometry and stable performance at high speeds.
The countersink is secured to the drill bit with a grub screw rather than being fixed permanently. This allows the countersink depth to be set precisely for a specific screw type and lets you replace the drill bit itself once it becomes blunt, without having to replace the whole tool.
The design of the tool allows the pilot hole for the screw shank and the tapered countersink for the countersunk head to be produced in a single operation. This shortens working time and removes the need for two separate tools.
High-speed steel (HSS) retains its hardness and cutting edge at elevated temperatures, which matters when working at higher speeds. Grinding rather than turning translates into more accurate cutting-edge geometry and consistent cutting.
The set comprises drill bits of 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm diameter, covering the most commonly used wood screw sizes (No. 4 to No. 10). Each bit is a different length matched to its diameter, giving the tool the right rigidity.

| Package contents | 4 drill bits with countersinks, hex key |
The drill bit diameter is matched to the screw shank (not the head). The 3 mm bit is typically used for No. 4–5 screws, the 4 mm bit for No. 6–7 screws, the 5 mm bit for No. 8 screws and the 6 mm bit for No. 10 screws. Set the countersink depth so that the screw head sits flush with the workpiece surface or slightly below it.
Before first use, set the countersink to the required depth and tighten the grub screw with the hex key supplied. It is advisable to test-drill on a piece of scrap material to check the setting. HSS drill bits are designed for use in an electric drill or a variable-speed drill driver — running them too fast without adequate feed can accelerate edge wear.
After use, clean chips and sawdust off the drill bits and store them in a dry place. When a drill bit becomes blunt, it can be replaced without dismantling the countersink: simply loosen the grub screw, slide the bit out and fit a new one.
