The adjustable reamer is a tool for the precision finishing of bores, with a working diameter that can be set across a 19-21 mm range. Made from HSS 4241 high-speed steel, it is designed for work on non-ferrous metals, structural steel and plastics.
The 19-21 mm adjustment range allows precise matching to the required bore size without the need for a set of fixed-diameter tools. The adjustment mechanism delivers accuracy to hundredths of a millimetre, which matters when working with bearings and bushes.
The HSS 4241 alloy contains tungsten, molybdenum and vanadium, giving a hardness of 62-65 HRC and resistance to the temperatures of up to 600°C generated during machining. This material holds its edge longer than standard tool steel, reducing sharpening frequency.
The 180 mm overall length covers both the shank and the working section, allowing deep bores to be machined while keeping the tool stable in use. The tool's proportions allow it to be mounted in standard drill chucks and lathes.
The 11.5 mm shank diameter is standard for tools with this working diameter range. It provides compatibility with 1-13 mm drill chucks and lathe heads, ensuring concentric mounting without run-out.

Spindle speed for structural steel: 80-120 rpm, for aluminium: 150-200 rpm. Manual feed 0.1-0.3 mm/rev. Before machining, pre-drill the bore to a diameter 0.2-0.5 mm smaller than the target dimension. Cutting fluid or machining oil must be used.
Set the diameter by turning the adjustment sleeve. After every change of setting, check the diameter with a micrometer. Adjustment accuracy is 0.01 mm. The adjustment mechanism requires periodic cleaning and lubrication.
When work is finished, clean swarf from the cutting edges with a brass brush. Remove cutting fluid residue and protect the edges with protective oil. Store in a dry place, protected from impact. Sharpen regularly on a tool grinder, maintaining the rake and clearance angles.
Safety glasses and gloves must be worn during machining. The tool must be securely mounted in the chuck with no axial play. Do not exceed the recommended spindle speeds. Before starting work, check the condition of the cutting edges and that there are no cracks.
