A carpenter's try square made from hardened aluminium with a millimetre scale. A measuring tool designed for marking out, drawing straight lines and checking right angles in carpentry, building and metalworking.
Hardened aluminium combines low weight with increased resistance to mechanical deformation. The hardening process increases surface hardness, which translates into resistance to scratches and dents during everyday use in the workshop.
The black scale, applied by a permanent printing method, remains legible throughout the tool's service life. Its 1 mm resolution allows precise measurement and marking out of workpieces to an accuracy sufficient for most carpentry and assembly work.
The 350 mm dimension represents a compromise between working area and tool mobility. This length allows marking out of standard furniture components, boards and panels, while remaining easy to handle and able to fit in a standard tool box.
The try square provides a right-angle reference, essential for checking that components are square, inspecting corners and setting up cutting tools. The stable construction minimises the risk of the arms deforming during use.

Before starting work, check that the working edges of the try square are clean – contamination can cause measuring inaccuracies. When marking out, the tool should sit flush against the material over its entire surface to ensure stability and a precise line. Aluminium is easily scratched by hard materials, so contact with abrasive tools should be avoided.
After finishing work, clean dust and swarf from the try square with a dry cloth. For persistent dirt, a mild detergent can be used, avoiding abrasives that could damage the scale. Storing in a dry place prevents corrosion and deformation. Periodically checking the right angle against a reference allows any mechanical deformation to be detected.
