A tool for marking metal surfaces with centre points, operated without a hammer. The spring mechanism automatically indents the surface, creating a centre point for drill bits that makes precision drilling easier.
An internal spring drives the pin once the tool is pressed against the surface. This removes the need for a hammer, shortening working time and improving safety. Simply place the punch against the material and press — the indent forms automatically.
The design gives full control of the tool using just one hand. The other hand stays free to hold the workpiece or another tool, which is particularly useful when working with smaller parts.
The pin material provides the hardness needed for centre punching structural steel, aluminium and other metals. Tool steel is resistant to abrasion, which translates into a long tool life.
The indent created acts as a centre point for the drill bit, preventing it from slipping at the start of drilling. This is particularly important when working with smooth metal surfaces and when drilling small-diameter holes.
| Model | T03401 |
| Manufacturer | TVARDY |
| Overall length | 125 mm |
| Punch type | Automatic (spring-loaded) |
| Pin material | Tool steel |
| Mode of operation | Spring mechanism, no hammer required |
| Application | Centre punching metal |
Place the punch tip perpendicular to the metal surface at the point to be marked. Press the tool with sufficient force — the spring mechanism will indent the surface automatically. The pressure applied determines the depth of the resulting mark.
The spring mechanism requires periodic cleaning to remove metal dust. After intensive use, lightly lubricate the moving parts with penetrating oil. Store in a dry place to prevent corrosion of the steel pin.
Do not point the punch towards your body when pressing. Make sure the workpiece is securely clamped before centre punching. Wear safety goggles — metal chips may fly off when centre punching. Do not use the tool on hardened materials — this may damage the pin.
