Ball-End Hex Key with Hex Handle 3x100 mm YT-1532 YATO
The ball-end hex key is a workshop tool designed for driving socket head screws in areas with limited access. The ball end allows work at angles of up to 25 degrees from the screw axis.
Technical features of the hex key
Ball end
The spherical end of the shank allows socket head screws to be tightened at an angle. This solution is used where the key cannot be positioned perpendicular to the screw because of structural obstructions or limited working space.
Hex handle
The hexagonal profile of the handle allows a spanner or socket to be used to increase torque. This boosts tightening force on stubborn fasteners without the need for additional tools.
Tool steel
A material with a hardness of 58-62 HRC, providing resistance to wear and plastic deformation. The hardened steel retains its working dimensions even under intensive use in workshop conditions.

Checking compatibility
Before starting work, make sure that the socket size of the screw matches the 3 mm shank. Check this by inserting the key freely into the hex socket with no side play. A fit that is too loose will damage the socket edges and round off the internal profile of the screw.
Use and maintenance
Hex keys require clean working surfaces. Contamination such as metal swarf, grease or rust reduces the accuracy of the fit in the screw socket. After use, remove any residual lubricant and protect the surfaces against corrosion.
The ball end has a smaller contact area with the screw than a standard hex profile. For this reason, when tightening with high force the key should be positioned as close to perpendicular as possible. Working at the maximum angle should be limited to operations that only require initial loosening or tightening.
The hexagonal handle allows torque extensions to be used. Bear in mind that using a spanner on the handle increases the torsional load on the shank. Exceeding the strength of the material can lead to permanent deformation or breakage of the tool at the transition between the handle and the working section.
