Choosing nail length for material thickness
10 mm nails are suited to joining materials with a combined thickness of 6-8 mm. The nail should pass through the material being fixed and penetrate the base material by at least 4-5 mm to give a secure joint. For thicker materials, use longer nails.
Use and maintenance

The air pressure on the nail gun should be adjusted to suit the hardness of the material - too much pressure can damage the surface, while too little will prevent the nail from being driven in fully. It is advisable to test a few nails on an offcut of the material before starting the actual job.
