A marking out kit comprising a 30 metre chalk line in a housing with a winding mechanism and a 115 gram container of red marking chalk. The tool is designed for precise marking out during construction, renovation and finishing work.
Kit features
Cotton-polyester blended line
The blend of cotton fibres and a polyester core delivers tensile strength and resistance to repeated stress. The line retains its dimensional stability when marking out lines up to 30 metres long, which eliminates the risk of distortion and measurement inaccuracy.
Housing with winding mechanism

Use and maintenance
Preparation before use
Before first use, fill the housing with marking chalk and pull the line through the chalk chambers several times so that the fibres are evenly coated. Any excess chalk can be removed by gently flicking the line. To mark a line, tension the string between two points, then pull it perpendicular to the surface and release it to leave a clear chalk line.
Kit maintenance
After use, clean excess chalk from the housing and rewind the line using the crank handle. The chalk line should be stored in a dry place so that the fibres do not become damp and the chalk does not clump. It is worth checking the condition of the line periodically for fraying and mechanical wear — a damaged line may snap when tensioned.
Refilling the chalk
When the marking chalk runs out, the supply can be topped up using chalk in the same colour, or a different shade can be chosen to suit the task. Marking chalk is available in packs of various weights. Before using new chalk for the first time, it is worth pulling the line through the chambers several times to ensure even coverage.
