External Straight Circlip Pliers 150 mm YT-2140 YATO
External circlip pliers are a specialist tool designed for fitting and removing external circlips (spring retaining rings) mounted on the outside of shafts. The YT-2140, in its straight version, allows work with circlips whose holes are set perpendicular to the plane of the ring.

Precision-machined CrV steel tips

Difference between straight and bent pliers
Straight circlip pliers have tips aligned in the same plane as the handles, which allows work with circlips positioned flat or in easily accessible locations. The bent version (with tips angled at 40–90°) is used for circlips seated in recesses or grooves, where straight access is limited.
Use and maintenance
Before using the pliers, check the condition of the working tips – they should be free from mechanical damage and signs of wear that could cause them to slip out of the holes in the circlip. During use, hold the pliers perpendicular to the plane of the circlip so that force is distributed evenly across both tips.
After use, clean the tool of dirt and oil, then lightly lubricate the pivot joint. Storing it in a dry place prevents corrosion, despite the nickel protection. Do not use the pliers as a lever or for tasks beyond their intended purpose, as this may permanently deform the tips.
Choosing the right plier size for the circlip
The diameter of the circlip and the distance between its fitting holes determine the choice of the correct plier size. 150 mm pliers are suitable for circlips with a diameter of approximately 10 mm to 60 mm. Before buying, check the circlip specification in the technical documentation for the equipment concerned.
