The cold chisel is an impact tool designed for cutting, grooving and marking metal. Model YT-47149 has a working length of 172 mm and a cutting edge width of 16 mm, making it a versatile tool for use in engineering and mechanical workshops.
A tool steel alloy with added chromium and vanadium, which increases hardness and wear resistance. This material allows repeated use without any loss of the blade's cutting properties, even when working hard metals.
A milled blade provides precise cutting and an even distribution of force during hammer strikes. The sharpened edge allows clean grooving with no burrs or deformation of the workpiece.
The hexagonal profile prevents the tool from rotating in the hand during use and makes it easier to control the direction of the cut. The 9.4 mm size provides an ergonomic grip for most users.
Blackening is a chemical treatment that creates a protective layer on the steel surface. It protects the tool against corrosion and oxidation, extending its service life in workshop conditions.

The cold chisel should be used with a suitable engineer's hammer (300-500 g). Strikes should be firm and controlled, keeping an angle of 30-45 degrees to the workpiece surface. After finishing work, clean swarf off the tool and protect it with anti-corrosion oil.
Safety goggles must be worn when using the cold chisel because of the risk of metal splinters. Check the condition of the blade and shank regularly – damaged or chipped edges can lead to loss of control over the tool. Do not use the cold chisel as a lever or a screwdriver.
