YATO YT-45292 copper hammer 500 g with fibreglass handle

A hammer with a brass head, intended for work that requires the workpiece surface to be protected. The fibreglass handle reduces vibration, while the low hardness of brass prevents damage to delicate materials during assembly and precision work.

Technical features of the brass hammer

500 g brass head

Compared with steel, brass has a low hardness, which eliminates the risk of scratches, dents and deformation when working on aluminium, copper, plastics and other soft materials. The 500 g weight provides sufficient impact energy while keeping the blow under control.

Fibreglass handle

Fibreglass is a composite with high mechanical strength and low weight. It effectively dampens the vibration transmitted to the hand during impact, which reduces fatigue during prolonged work. The material is resistant to moisture and does not crack the way wood does.

Ergonomics and secure grip

The handle surface has a fine embossed pattern that increases friction between the hand and the shaft. The non-slip texture ensures a firm grip even when working in gloves or in conditions of limited visibility. A hanging hole makes it easier to organise the workplace.

Working dimensions of the head

A head 92 mm long and 28 mm in diameter provides a suitable working area for precise seating of components. The proportions of the head allow work in confined spaces where access with a standard steel hammer would be difficult.

Applications of the brass hammer

  • Fitting bearings, bushes and shafts in mechanical engineering
  • Seating components in aluminium structures without the risk of surface damage
  • Jewellery making and precision work requiring a controlled impact force
  • Assembly and dismantling of electronic components in metal housings
  • Working and forming sheet metal made of soft metals
  • Automotive service work on aluminium and plastic components
  • Assembly of furniture and fittings with delicate paint finishes
  • Adjusting and fitting components in model making and prototyping

Differences between brass and steel hammers

When to use a brass hammer instead of a steel one

A steel hammer has a hardness of around 50–60 HRC and transfers the full impact energy to the material, which can cause deformation and damage. Brass with a hardness of 60–150 HB (considerably lower) deforms partly on impact, absorbing some of the energy and protecting the workpiece. Use a brass hammer when working with aluminium, copper, plastics and painted surfaces, and wherever mechanical marks are unacceptable.

Maintenance and use

A brass hammer requires basic maintenance to preserve its working parameters. After use, clean the head of dirt and any traces of the material being worked. Brass is resistant to corrosion, but prolonged contact with moisture can dull the surface.

In use, avoid striking hard steel surfaces, which can deform the head. If dents are visible on the brass striking face, flatness can be restored by carefully sanding with fine-grade abrasive paper.

The fibreglass handle requires no impregnation or special protection. Check the fixing of the head before every use – any play between the head and the handle disqualifies the tool from further use for safety reasons.

Work safety

Wear safety goggles when using the hammer to protect your eyes from flying fragments of material. Make sure the head is securely seated on the shaft. Do not use the hammer as a lever or for tasks that go beyond its intended purpose. Store the tool in a dry place where it is protected against falling.
