Cranked Ratchet Combination Spanner 12mm YT-01874 YATO
The 12mm cranked ratchet combination spanner combines the functions of an open-ended and a ring spanner with a ratchet mechanism on the ring end. The cranked handle design gives better access to fasteners in confined working spaces.
Features of the ratchet combination spanner
72-tooth ratchet
The 72-tooth mechanism needs only 5° of movement to engage the next position. This makes it possible to work where a full swing of the spanner is out of the question – for example in engine bays or on pipe fittings in cramped installations.
Cranked handle at 90°
The distinctive bend in the handle increases the clearance between your hand and the work surface. The design prevents knuckle grazing and lets you apply greater torque while keeping a natural grip. Particularly useful on bolts that need more tightening force.
Ring end offset by 15°
The angle of the ring end relative to the handle axis improves access to bolts and nuts sitting in recesses or hidden behind structural components. In many assembly situations it removes the need for extensions or universal joints.
Chrome vanadium (CrV) steel
The steel alloy with added chromium and vanadium offers increased hardness (40–45 HRC) and wear resistance. The material retains its mechanical properties under dynamic loads, which prevents the jaws from deforming when working on tightly torqued fasteners.

Fastener compatibility
The 12 mm spanner is designed for M8 hex bolts and nuts with a 12 mm across-flats dimension in accordance with ISO 272. Before starting work, check that the spanner size matches the fastener – using a poorly fitting tool damages the corners of the bolt or nut.
Using and maintaining the spanner
The ratchet mechanism needs periodic lubrication with lithium grease or machine oil. When the tool is in intensive use, check the condition of the mechanism every 3–6 months. Worn ratchet teeth show up as slipping under load – if this happens, take the spanner out of service.
The polished chrome finish protects against corrosion, but after contact with moisture or chemicals the tool should be wiped dry. Storing it in a damp environment shortens the service life of the ratchet mechanism.
For work requiring high torque, use the open end of the spanner or a torque wrench. The ratchet is intended for assembly and dismantling work, not for final tightening to a controlled torque.
Working safely
Never extend the spanner with pipes or any other object to increase leverage – this exceeds the strength of the material and damages the tool. For stubborn fasteners, use penetrating fluid and an impact wrench.
