A deep impact socket with a 3/4" drive, designed for use with pneumatic and electric impact wrenches. The extended body allows bolts and nuts seated deep inside recesses to be tightened and loosened where standard-length sockets cannot reach. The CR-MO material (chrome molybdenum steel) provides resistance to the dynamic loads generated by impact tools.
The longer body compared with standard sockets allows work on bolts and nuts positioned deep inside recesses, sleeves or behind structural components — a typical application in vehicle suspension, steel structures and industrial machinery.
Compared with CR-V steel, the CR-MO alloy offers greater ductility, which means that under the impact of an impact tool it deforms plastically rather than cracking. This property is essential when working with pneumatic and electric impact wrenches that generate high-energy pulses.
The six-point working profile ensures a secure grip on the bolt head or nut across the full contact area of the flats. Accurate socket dimensions minimise play and the risk of the socket slipping under impact load, which reduces damage to fasteners.
The socket is fitted with a through hole that accepts a retaining pin. The pin locks the socket onto the impact wrench's drive square, eliminating the risk of it falling off when working in hard-to-reach places or in an inverted position.

The choice of socket material should be based on how the socket is to be used. CR-V (chrome vanadium) steel sockets are intended exclusively for hand tools — ring spanners, hand ratchets and spinner handles. Using a CR-V socket with an impact wrench risks cracking it, as this steel does not absorb dynamic loads sufficiently.
| Feature | CR-MO steel | CR-V steel |
|---|---|---|
| Impact resistance | Very high — designed for impact tools | Limited — for hand use only |
| Flexibility (ductility) | Higher — absorbs vibration and impact pulses | Lower — risk of cracking under impact |
| Hardness retention | Stable under varying loads | Good, but without impact resistance |
| Typical application | Pneumatic and electric impact wrenches, industry, automotive | Hand tools, workshops not requiring impact tools |
The socket works with impact wrenches fitted with a 3/4" drive square. Before buying, check the drive square size of your wrench — it is usually marked on the tool's housing or stated in its technical documentation. The 3/4" drive is used mainly on professional pneumatic and electric impact wrenches for industrial applications and commercial vehicle servicing.
