Dial Torque Wrench 3/8" YATO YT-07831

A dial torque wrench with an analogue gauge for controlled tightening of fasteners in the 0-10 Nm range. The tool is designed for work that requires a precise tightening torque at low force values.

Torque range0-10 Nm
Drive size3/8" (10 mm)
Indicator typeDial
MaterialAlloy steel

Technical characteristics of the torque wrench

Torque range 0-10 Nm

A low torque range intended for work on delicate components. A value of 10 Nm corresponds to a force of around 1 kg acting on a 1-metre arm. This range is used when tightening plastic and aluminium components and small-diameter precision threaded joints.

Dial indicator

The dial mechanism displays the torque currently applied on an analogue dial. Unlike click-type wrenches, a dial indicator allows continuous monitoring of the tightening force and observation of torque changes during work. The reading is immediate, with no need to listen for an audible signal.

3/8-inch square drive

A 10 mm (3/8") drive square is a mid-size in the socket tool system. It allows sockets from this size group to be used, which are small enough to work in confined spaces while retaining good mechanical strength.

Bidirectional operation

A direction selector allows work in both clockwise and anticlockwise tightening. This function makes it possible to use the wrench on non-standard threads and to measure the breakaway torque of threaded joints.

Applications of the 0-10 Nm torque wrench

  • Tightening plastic components in automotive applications (covers, lamp lenses, interior parts)
  • Assembly of electronic and electrical components requiring a controlled torque
  • Servicing domestic appliances and consumer electronics, where small screws and plastic parts are used
  • Work on ventilation and air conditioning systems (connectors, brackets, housings)
  • Fitting bicycle accessories (handlebars, stems, components)
  • Tightening components in model making and precision engineering
  • Servicing medical and laboratory equipment
  • Fitting fixtures in small-diameter plumbing installations

Checking socket compatibility

The wrench works with sockets that have a 3/8" drive square. Before buying sockets, check that they have a 10 mm internal square. Do not use adaptors that increase the torque above 10 Nm, as this may damage the measuring mechanism.

Use and maintenance

Before using the dial torque wrench for the first time, carry out several load cycles across the full range in order to stabilise the spring mechanism. During use, the wrench should be held perpendicular to the axis of the bolt, with force applied evenly at the end of the grip.

The dial indicator requires periodic calibration, particularly under intensive use. The wrench should be stored in an unloaded position, in the supplied case, away from moisture and high temperatures. After each use, clean the wrench of dirt and check that the indicator returns to the zero position.

The rubberised grip provides a non-slip hold and thermal insulation. This material can degrade on contact with organic solvents and mineral oils, so contact with these substances should be kept to a minimum.

Differences between types of torque wrench

Dial wrenches differ from click-type wrenches in the way they indicate torque. A dial mechanism shows a continuous reading on the dial, whereas a click-type wrench emits an audible signal once the set torque is reached. Dial wrenches are better suited to work that requires observation of rising torque, while click-type wrenches are ideal for repetitive tightening to a single value.
