Diamond Core Drill Bit for Porcelain Stoneware 60 mm GEKO G65060

A diamond-coated core drill bit designed for non-impact drilling of holes in hard ceramic and stone materials. The wet drilling technology ensures precise cutting without the risk of cracking the tile.

Working diameter60 mm
Coating height6 mm
Operating modeNon-impact
ModelG65060

Technical Characteristics

6 mm Diamond Coating

The 6 mm working layer contains diamond particles embedded in a metal bond. This coating height ensures a long tool life — sufficient for drilling several dozen holes in porcelain stoneware with a hardness of 8–9 on the Mohs scale.

Wet Drilling Technology

The drill bit requires water cooling during use. The water carries away the heat generated during cutting, prevents the diamond coating from overheating and eliminates dust. Without cooling, the metal bond loses its properties and the coating wears out quickly.

Shank for Keyed Chucks

The drill bit has a cylindrical shank compatible with the keyed chucks used on electric drills. Before fitting, check the chuck's clamping range — for a 60 mm drill bit, a drill with a minimum power of 1000 W is recommended.

60 mm Diameter

A 60 mm hole is the standard size for bath and shower mixers, as well as for some models of washbasin mixers with concealed installation. Before starting work, it is worth checking the tap manufacturer's requirements.

Applications

  • Drilling holes for concealed mixers in bathrooms
  • Installing water connections in walls clad with porcelain stoneware
  • Electrical installations in rooms with ceramic wall tiling
  • Pipe runs through marble and granite tiles
  • Holes for sockets and switches in wall tiles
  • Fitting bathroom handles and accessories
  • Renovation work on old installations

Use and Maintenance

Preparation

Before drilling, mark the hole position and protect the tile with masking tape — this prevents the drill bit from slipping on the smooth surface. Start drilling at a 45-degree angle, then gradually straighten the drill to a perpendicular position.

Cooling During Use

The drill bit requires continuous water cooling. You can use a water-soaked sponge placed around the drilling point, or make a temporary reservoir from modelling clay. The water flow should be moderate — too strong a flow makes the tool harder to control.

Drilling Parameters

Recommended speed: 400–600 rpm for porcelain stoneware, 600–800 rpm for ceramics and marble. The pressure should be moderate — too much causes overheating, too little extends the working time. Drilling a 60 mm hole in porcelain stoneware usually takes 3–5 minutes.

Cleaning and Storage

After use, clean the drill bit of residue with water and a brush. The diamond coating does not require lubrication. Store the tool in a dry place, protected from mechanical damage to the cutting edge.
