A drill stand for mounting drills with a collar of up to 43 mm, with drilling angle adjustment over a range of 45-90 degrees. The 400 mm column provides stability when making precise holes in wood, metal and plastics.
The mechanism allows the drill to be set at any angle between 45 and 90 degrees. This function is useful for drilling angled assembly holes, angled screwed timber joints and drilling in hard-to-reach places. The angle scale makes it easy to set the required tilt precisely.
The maximum stroke of 60 mm defines the range of movement of the drill bit along the vertical axis. The depth adjustment system allows a stop to be set, which prevents the material from being drilled right through. The locking mechanism holds the set depth when drilling a series of holes with identical parameters.
The column, with a 25 mm cross-section and a 1.2 mm wall thickness, provides rigidity during drilling. The 400 mm height allows larger workpieces to be machined. The steel construction minimises vibration and flex, which could affect the accuracy of the holes drilled.
The square 160 x 160 mm base forms a stable working platform. The mounting holes allow the stand to be fixed permanently to a workbench with bolts or by means of clamps. The larger contact area increases stability when drilling hard materials.

Before buying, measure the diameter of the drill collar (the cylindrical part immediately behind the drill chuck). The stand is compatible with drills with a collar of up to 43 mm. Also check the weight of the drill - models that are too heavy may require additional support for the return spring mechanism.
Before first use, check that the drill is set square to the base with a try square. The angle adjustment mechanism requires periodic lubrication at the pivot points. The return spring should be checked for loss of tension - a weakened spring leads to uneven movement of the drill.
When drilling metal, it is advisable to fix the stand to the workbench with bolts. Drilling wood can be carried out with the stand held steady by clamps. After finishing work, remove swarf and dust from the guide mechanism and check the condition of the screws securing the drill in the mount.
The drill should be secured in the stand mount with clamping screws so that there is no play. Overtightening may damage the drill housing. Once mounted, check that the axis of the drill bit aligns with the axis of the column guide - any misalignment is corrected by loosening and re-centring the mount.
