The KD5180 is an electric garden tiller fitted with a 1500W motor and four sets of hardened blades. It is designed for loosening and levelling soil on allotments and in domestic gardens, and for preparing ground before laying a lawn. The electric drive removes the need to maintain a petrol engine, which translates into a lower overall weight and simpler operation.
The tiller is fitted with 4 sets of hardened blades mounted on a rotating shaft. The profile of the blades makes them dig into the soil on their own — the user does not have to apply additional downward pressure while working. Hardening increases the durability of the blades when they come into contact with harder ground.
The 1500W output places the machine in a class comparable to the small petrol engines used in garden tillers. The electric drive needs no fuel, no manual starting and no periodic oil changes. A noise level of 70 dB(A) makes it possible to work in built-up areas without excessive noise nuisance.
The 300mm width allows efficient work in narrow borders, along fences and between rows of plants, where manoeuvring larger machines is difficult. At the same time it is sufficient to prepare larger areas for a lawn or vegetable plot in a reasonable time.
The body, made from durable plastic, protects the internal components from impact by thrown stones and debris. Using plastic instead of metal lowers the overall weight of the machine, which has a direct effect on comfort during longer working sessions.

Electric tillers work well on plots with access to a mains socket, where the working area does not exceed the reach of an extension cable. The absence of a petrol engine means lower running costs and no exhaust emissions — important when working near a greenhouse or in enclosed spaces. Petrol models are the right choice where there is no access to mains power, or for very large areas requiring many hours of continuous work.
