YATO YT-72252 Electronic Depth Gauge 250 mm
An electronic measuring instrument for precise measurement of the depth of holes, keyways, grooves and slots. The 0-250 mm model offers 0.01 mm resolution and ±0.03 mm accuracy, meeting the requirements of mechanical workshops and quality control.
Technical characteristics of the electronic depth gauge
Measuring accuracy ±0.03 mm
This parameter defines the maximum measurement error. A value of ±0.03 mm means that the actual dimension may differ from the reading by no more than 0.03 mm up or down. This level of accuracy is sufficient for most machining applications, where typical dimensional tolerances start at 0.05 mm and above.
Resolution 0.01 mm
This defines the smallest change in dimension that the instrument is able to display. A resolution of 0.01 mm (0.0005") allows readings to be taken to the nearest hundredth of a millimetre. In practice, this means that dimensional differences at the level of 10 micrometres can be detected, which is sufficient for precision mechanical components.
Stainless steel and ABS construction
Measuring components made from stainless steel are resistant to corrosion and subject to minimal mechanical wear during repeated measurements. The ABS plastic housing protects the electronics against impact and provides electrical insulation. The combination of these materials ensures dimensional stability under variable workshop conditions.

How to check compatibility with your measuring task
Before purchase, check the maximum depth you need to measure – it must be less than 250 mm. Check the required dimensional tolerances in the technical documentation – if they are 0.05 mm or more, ±0.03 mm accuracy is sufficient. For tighter tolerances (e.g. 0.02 mm), an instrument with a higher accuracy class should be considered.
Use and maintenance
Before the first measurement, check that the instrument is zeroed on a flat reference surface. The zero function allows any deviations to be compensated for and the reference point to be set at any position of the probe.
During measurement, the probe must be positioned perpendicular to the surface being measured. Even a slight tilt can cause a reading error, particularly in deep holes. For holes of small diameter, it is worth using a guide probe or centring sleeve.
After use, remove any contamination from the probe and measuring surfaces with a soft cloth. Do not use solvents that could damage the ABS housing. The instrument should be stored in a dry place at a temperature of -20 to +60°C.
The 180 mAh SR44 battery provides several hundred hours of operation. A low battery indicator appears on the display in good time, allowing you to finish current measurements. Replacing the battery does not require recalibration of the instrument.
Calibration and reference standards
In environments covered by quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949), measuring instruments require periodic calibration at accredited laboratories. The typical calibration interval for electronic depth gauges is 12 months. Between calibrations, the accuracy of the readings can be verified using depth standards or gauge blocks.
