30/40 mm Euro Cylinder Lock — Brass (K02608)
A Euro cylinder designed for mortice locks in internal and external doors. Aluminium body, ZnAl alloy mechanism and a brushed brass finish. The 30/40 mm size denotes an asymmetric split — 30 mm from the centre of the lock to the outside and 40 mm to the inside.

Asymmetric 30/40 mm size
A 30/40 split is used when the lock axis does not sit at the mid-point of the door thickness — for example with thicker door leaves, or when the lock is offset from centre. Before buying, measure the distance from the centre of the lock's fixing screw to each edge of the door.
Aluminium body
Aluminium keeps the weight low while maintaining sufficient rigidity. The body will not corrode under the conditions typical of residential and office environments, which translates into a long cylinder service life with no need to maintain the housing.
ZnAl alloy mechanism
The zinc-aluminium alloy offers good wear resistance and smooth operation of the cylinder mechanism. Using ZnAl for the moving parts reduces friction when the key is turned, which matters where the lock is used intensively every day.
25,000 cycle durability
One cycle is a full turn of the key and its return to the starting position. Assuming 10 openings a day, this corresponds to more than 6 years of use. The figure helps assess how suitable the cylinder is for a given application — a flat entrance door versus an internal door that is rarely used.
How to check the cylinder size before buying
Remove the existing cylinder (after undoing the fixing screw on the face of the door). Measure the distance from the centre of the screw hole to each end of the cylinder. The first figure in the size code (30) is the outside of the door and the second (40) is the inside. The cylinder should protrude no more than 3 mm beyond the lock faceplate — a cylinder that is too long is vulnerable to snapping.

Installation and use
The cylinder is fitted with a single fixing screw driven in from the face of the door leaf — the screw is supplied. Before fitting, make sure the cut-out in the lock matches the standard cylinder profile. The cylinder is compatible with locks that have a standard cylinder cut-out.
The mechanism does not require regular lubrication in normal use. If the key turns stiffly, powdered graphite or lock spray can be used — do not use WD-40 or grease-based lubricants, as they attract dirt and can lead to the mechanism seizing.
