How to check cylinder compatibility with your lock
Before buying, measure the distance from the centre of the fixing screw to the external edge of the door (external dimension) and to the internal edge (internal dimension). For this cylinder the figures are 30 mm and 40 mm respectively. It is also worth checking the hole centres on the existing lock — the standard fixing screw spacing is 38 mm, which matches most mortice locks available on the market. If in doubt, it helps to remove the old cylinder and compare its dimensions with those of the new model.
Fitting
The cylinder is fixed to the lock with a single screw, which is supplied with the set. Fitting does not require specialist tools — a screwdriver is all you need. Before starting the replacement, make sure the door is open and the lock is unlocked, which allows the old cylinder to be removed freely once the fixing screw has been undone. The new cylinder is inserted into the lock opening with the key inserted and turned to the horizontal position (fitting position), then the screw is tightened.
