40/40G Euro Cylinder with Thumbturn — Brushed Brass (K02652)
A pin tumbler cylinder with a single thumbturn, designed for mortice locks in both internal and external doors. From the inside it can be operated without a key — simply turn the thumbturn. From the outside the lock is opened with a standard key. The size 40/40G means that both sides of the cylinder are 40 mm long, with the thumbturn side (G) facing into the room.

Single thumbturn
The thumbturn on the inside replaces the key — it allows the door to be locked or unlocked quickly without reaching for a key. This solution is used in particular on flat entrance doors, where convenience is required from the inside and key security from the outside.
Aluminium body
Aluminium keeps the weight low while maintaining adequate rigidity of the construction. The body does not corrode under normal indoor use or in standard outdoor conditions on sheltered doors.
ZnAl alloy mechanism
Zinc-aluminium alloy (ZnAl) is widely used in precision lock components thanks to its good wear resistance and dimensional stability. This translates into smooth operation of the mechanism throughout its stated service life.
Brushed brass finish
Brushing the surface gives a matt texture that is less likely to show fingerprints than polished finishes. The brass colour matches door furniture in shades of gold and warm bronze.
How to check the size before buying
The size of a cylinder is determined by measuring the distance from the centre of the fixing screw to the end of the cylinder on each side. On this model both sides are 40 mm long. The letter "G" indicates the thumbturn side — make sure that the thumbturn side will face into the room. Before replacing a cylinder it is worth measuring the old one or checking the dimension in the lock documentation.

Installation and use
The cylinder is secured with the fixing screw supplied — standard installation does not require specialist tools. The screw passes through the lock body and holds the cylinder in the correct position. Before installation, check that the hole spacing in the lock matches the standard used by the cylinder manufacturer.
During use, regular lubrication of the cylinder mechanism with a dedicated lock lubricant (e.g. graphite or PTFE spray) is recommended. WD-40-type oils should not be used as a long-term solution — they can attract dirt and shorten the life of the mechanism. A durability of 25,000 cycles corresponds to many years of use at normal door opening frequency.
