A 100-gram fitter's hammer with a painted steel head and a wooden handle. A tool intended for precision fitting, assembly and light operations that call for controlled striking force.
The lightweight construction gives precise control over striking force and direction. Ideal for work that requires a delicate touch – assembling small metal components, shaping thin sheet metal and driving small nails without the risk of damaging the material.
The head is made of steel with a paint coating that protects it against corrosion. The paint finish increases the tool's durability in workshop conditions and protects the surface from rust during storage.
The natural material absorbs vibration during use, reducing the strain on the wrist and hand. Wood provides a secure grip and does not slip in damp conditions. A length of 25.8 cm gives adequate leverage while keeping the tool manoeuvrable.
A fitter's hammer has a flat striking face and an opposite end that is wedge-shaped or rounded. This profile allows both standard striking and precise pressing or shaping of material.

Fitter's hammers are manufactured in weights from 50 g to 1000 g. The 100 g model sits at the lower end of the range, which makes it ideal for precision work. For heavier fitting tasks (e.g. forging or breaking apart tight joints), hammers of 300-500 g are recommended. For jewellery and electronics work, hammers of 50-80 g are used.
Before starting work, check that the head is securely fixed to the handle – a loosened joint can cause the metal part to come off dangerously during a strike. The wooden handle should be checked periodically for cracks and mechanical damage.
The steel surface should be protected from moisture. After finishing work it is advisable to wipe the head with a dry cloth. If signs of corrosion appear, fine-grade abrasive paper can be used and the surface protected with machine oil.
The hammer must not be used as a lever, nor should the head be struck against harder materials (e.g. hardened steel), as this can cause chipping or deformation of the working surface. When driving nails, hold the handle closer to the end, which increases the striking force while maintaining control.
