GEKO G72073 Garden Auger Drill Bit – earth auger 8×35 cm
A tool for boring holes in soil mechanically for seedlings, flower bulbs and vegetable transplants. It works with drills and drivers fitted with a 10 mm (3/8") chuck or larger.
Technical characteristics
8 cm diameter – a universal size
An 8 cm hole matches the standard sizes of plant pots and seedling trays. It is large enough for most garden plants, from annual flowers to young shrub cuttings.
35 cm working length
A boring depth of 35 cm lets you make holes for plants with a deeper root system. It allows planting at the right depth without having to deepen the holes by hand.
10 mm HEX shank
The hexagonal shank with a 10 mm (3/8") profile ensures a secure hold in the drill chuck. Compatible with most cordless and corded drills of at least 500 W.
Mixing function
The auger design lets you mix soil with fertiliser, compost or peat directly in the prepared hole. Useful when preparing growing media for plants with specific requirements.

Tool requirements
Tool compatibility
The auger requires a drill or driver with a keyless chuck of at least 10 mm capacity. A drill power of 500 W is recommended for corded models, or 18 V for cordless tools. When working in heavy, clay soil, drills of at least 700 W or 20 V are recommended.
Preparation before use
Before you start boring, remove stones and branches from the soil surface. If the soil is dry, water it beforehand – this makes boring easier and reduces the load on the drill motor. Keep the auger perpendicular to the ground and maintain a steady, moderate speed.
Maintenance
After use, clean the auger of any remaining soil with a brush or a jet of water. Pressure washers are not recommended – they can damage the anti-corrosion coating. Before storing, dry the tool and protect the steel parts with a thin layer of oil or grease.
When working in stony soil, check the sharpness of the cutting edges regularly. Blunt or damaged edges can be sharpened with a file or on a bench grinder, keeping the original bevel angle.
