GEKO G02623 Piston Ring Removal Tool Kit
A complete workshop tool kit for professional piston ring work and piston groove cleaning. It comprises fitting pliers, three ring compressors with different working ranges and a groove cleaner with interchangeable blades.
Kit features
Piston ring fitting pliers
The 50-100 mm tool allows piston rings to be fitted and removed safely, with no risk of cracking. Squeezing the handles spreads the centre jaws, which opens the ring held by the side jaws. The mechanism prevents the ring from becoming distorted during the operation.
Three ring compressors
The set includes 3" compressors (two pieces) and a 4" compressor (one piece) with working ranges of 53-125 mm and 90-175 mm. They are used to compress the rings on the piston before it is inserted into the cylinder, which eliminates the risk of damaging the rings during fitting.
Piston groove cleaner
Fitted with three interchangeable blades of different thicknesses (1.2-5.5 mm, 2.0-4.5 mm, 1/16"-3/16"). Adjustment to piston diameters of 2"-5" (51-127 mm) is made by sliding the disc along the flat bar. It removes carbon and combustion deposits from the grooves, preparing the surface for fitting new rings.
Complete kit
The kit includes a Phillips and a flat-head screwdriver for adjustment, plus a plastic case that provides safe storage and transport. Having all the tools in one place makes workshop tasks easier to organise.

Use and maintenance
Selecting tools for the cylinder diameter
Before starting work, measure the cylinder or piston diameter. For engines with a diameter of 53-90 mm, use the small 3" compressor. For diameters of 90-125 mm, choose the large 3" or the 4" compressor, depending on piston height. For diameters of 125-175 mm, use the 4" compressor only. The piston ring pliers work in the 50-100 mm range.
Cleaning piston grooves
Choose the blade that matches the width of the piston ring groove. Position the disc with the blade at the appropriate point on the flat bar to suit the piston diameter. Run the tool around the groove, removing carbon deposits. Always work from the centre of the piston outwards to avoid damaging the groove edges.
Tool maintenance
After finishing work, clean all components of oil and dirt. The cleaner blades require periodic sharpening or replacement. Lubricate the plier mechanism with light penetrating oil. Store the kit in the supplied case, protecting it from moisture and mechanical damage.
