Combination spanner in chrome vanadium steel, combining the functions of an open end and a ring end in a single tool. The double 15° offset design provides access to fasteners in confined working spaces.
Alloying with chromium and vanadium increases hardness and wear resistance. The material retains its strength properties under repeated loading, which prevents the jaws from deforming when working on a seized or corroded fastener.
The open end is set at 15° to the axis of the handle, and the ring end is cranked by a further 15°. This design allows work in recesses and on mounting fasteners hidden behind other components without dismantling the surrounding parts.
The bi-hex profile engages the corners of the bolt or nut every 30°, compared with a standard 6-point (60°). It allows work with a minimal swing, which is essential where there is limited room to manoeuvre the tool.
The chrome layer protects against corrosion in damp conditions. The matt satin finish reduces light glare, making the size engraved on the body easier to read when working in low light.
| Model | G11208 |
| Spanner size | 8 mm |
| Construction type | Straight combination |
| Material | Chrome vanadium alloy steel (CrV) |
| Surface finish | Chrome plated, satin |
| Open end offset angle | 15° to the axis of the handle |
| Ring end offset angle | 15° to the plane of the handle |
| Ring end profile | 12-point (bi-hex) |
The 8 mm size corresponds to the internal diameter of the ring end and the jaw spacing of the open end. Check the marking on the fastener (M8 for metric bolts) or measure the diameter with vernier callipers. For corroded fasteners or those with a damaged profile, use a spanner one size larger with a rubber insert or an extractor.
Before starting work, make sure the spanner is fully seated on the fastener. Incomplete engagement damages the corners of the bolt or nut. Apply force in the direction that prevents the jaws of the open end from spreading apart.
After use, clean the spanner of dirt and grease with a cloth and degreaser. In a damp environment or after contact with salt, protect the surface with a thin coat of machine oil. Store in a dry place, separately from impact tools, which can damage the chrome surface.
