Use and maintenance
Correct use
Before starting work, check that the tines are firmly joined to the head and that the shaft is sound. When lifting heavy material, grip the tool with both hands, one close to the head, for better control. Avoid twisting the fork under load – this can permanently bend the tines or damage the joint.
Maintenance
After use, clear any material left between the tines. Wipe the metal parts with a dry cloth to prevent corrosion. When working with material that contains organic acids (compost, manure), clean the tool more thoroughly and oil the joints from time to time. Store in a dry place, ideally hanging up, which prevents the tines from distorting.
