Corundum cutting disc designed for cutting stainless steel, mild steel and non-ferrous metals. The fibreglass-reinforced construction ensures safe operation at speeds up to 12,200 rpm.
Aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃) has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale. It cuts both unalloyed steels and corrosion-resistant alloys effectively. The grain stays sharp longer than standard abrasives.
A synthetic resin bonds the abrasive grain, while a fibreglass mesh stabilises the disc structure. The layered construction minimises the risk of cracking under side loads and ensures safe operation at maximum speed.
A thin disc produces a narrow kerf, which means less material loss and a lower thermal load. When cutting steel sections this translates into less heat distortion in the cutting zone.
The permissible peripheral speed sets the maximum safe rpm for a given disc diameter. For a 125 mm disc the 80 m/s limit corresponds to 12,200 rpm. Exceeding this value can cause the disc to burst.

The disc fits 125 mm angle grinders with an M14 spindle thread or a 22.23 mm bore mounting system. Before fitting, check the grinder's maximum speed – it must not exceed 12,200 rpm. Most common 125 mm grinders run at 10,000–12,000 rpm.
Check the condition of the disc before every use – cracks, chipping or deformation mean it must not be used. The disc must be fitted in the direction of rotation shown on the label. The grinder guard and personal protective equipment – goggles, gloves and hearing protection – must be used.
Cut without applying excessive pressure – the weight of the tool is enough for efficient work. Too much pressure overheats the disc, shortens its life and can cause it to jam. When cutting stainless steel, lower speeds are advisable (if the grinder has speed control) to limit heat build-up in the material.
Store discs in a dry room, either flat or hanging. Contact with moisture can weaken the resin bond. Avoid direct sunlight and temperatures above 40°C.
