Grass Shears 300 mm GEKO G72055

Hand-held garden shears designed for precise trimming of grass in areas a lawnmower cannot reach, and for shaping small shrubs. Fitted with hardened steel blades with a Teflon coating.

Overall length300 mm
Blade length130 mm
Steel hardness50 HRC
Blade coatingTeflon

Key features

Hardened steel blades, 50 HRC

A hardness of 50 HRC (Rockwell C) provides adequate wear resistance while still allowing the blades to be sharpened. Steel in this hardness range holds a keen edge when cutting grass and soft twigs, yet is not excessively brittle.

Teflon coating on the blades

The Teflon layer reduces friction during cutting and prevents plant sap and moisture from sticking to the blades. This makes working in wet grass easier and reduces the need to clean the blades frequently. The coating also protects against corrosion.

130 mm blade length

Blades of this length allow efficient cutting while maintaining precision. This size works well for trimming lawn edges along paths and borders, and around trees and shrubs where a lawnmower cannot reach.

Ergonomic handle design

The shape of the grips reduces strain on the wrists during longer periods of work. The angle of the handles and the position of the grip points allow you to work in different positions without tiring your hands excessively.

Steel hardness HRC — what it means in practice

The Rockwell scale (HRC) defines the hardness of a metal. A value of 50 HRC is standard for garden tools — the steel is hard enough to hold its edge for a long time, but not so hard that it cracks under heavier loads. Shears of this hardness can be sharpened at home with a file or a whetstone.

Use and maintenance

Before first use, check the adjustment of the blade pivot bolt — it should be tight enough to prevent the blades from working loose during cutting, yet slack enough to allow the shears to close smoothly without excessive effort.

After each use, wipe the blades with a dry cloth, particularly after working in wet grass. Plant sap can build up on the Teflon coating over time — removing it with a damp cloth prevents deposits that are harder to shift from forming.

If the blades become noticeably blunt, they can be sharpened with a fine-cut file or a whetstone, keeping to the original cutting edge angle (usually 30-40 degrees). Sharpen gently so as not to damage the Teflon coating.

It is worth checking the pivot bolt periodically and tightening it if necessary — a loose joint reduces cutting efficiency and can lead to uneven blade wear.

Cleaning the Teflon coating

Teflon is susceptible to abrasion — do not use wire wool or abrasive cleaners. Warm water with a little washing-up liquid and a soft sponge are enough to remove stubborn dirt. After washing, dry the shears thoroughly.
