Use and maintenance
Fitting and choosing the right hardware
Before buying, check the shackle diameter and the internal shackle clearance to make sure the padlock fits the hasp and staple or mounting eyes. 75 mm padlocks work with standard gate hasps.
Maintenance
The locking mechanism needs periodic lubrication with graphite or PTFE grease, particularly after contact with water. Mineral oils should not be used, as they attract dust. The cast iron body can be protected with an additional coat of paint or protective grease.
Corrosion protection
When used outdoors, the condition of the coating should be checked every 6 months. Mechanical damage should be touched up with anti-corrosion paint. In environments with high humidity or salt levels, an additional rain cover is worth considering.
