The half-round carving disc is an abrasive attachment mounted on angle grinders, designed for rapid removal, shaping and smoothing of wooden surfaces. The 30mm diameter model with M14 thread allows both flat and rounded components to be worked.
A material with a hardness of 40-50 HRC provides adequate resistance to abrasion during intensive work with wood. This hardness allows the abrasive grains to stay sharp while retaining the flexibility that prevents cracking.
The diameter of the carving disc determines the width of the strip being worked and the depth of the recess when working concave surfaces. The 30mm dimension is a compromise between the manoeuvrability of the tool and the rate of material removal.
The M14 thread is a universal fitting used on angle grinders rated at 600-2400 W. Compatibility should be checked in the grinder's specification – some models require an adapter or have an M10 thread.
The dome profile allows both flat surfaces (when working with the edge) and concave surfaces (with the full face) to be worked. This shape also makes it easier to work in recesses and on rounded structural components.

Before fitting, disconnect the grinder from the mains. Screw the carving disc onto the grinder spindle in the direction of rotation (usually clockwise). Tighten by hand, then secure with a spanner. Check that the mounting is secure before starting.
The maximum speed of 12,500 rpm must not be exceeded – a higher rotational speed may cause the tool to break up. Check the grinder's specifications before use. Guide the tool evenly while working, without excessive pressure, which can lead to overheating and premature wear.
Mandatory: safety goggles (protection against flying wood chips), work gloves, FFP2-class dust mask (harder woods generate fine dust). Recommended: ear defenders for prolonged work, clothing that fits close to the body with no loose parts.
After finishing work, clean wood residue off the carving disc with compressed air or a brush. The lacquered surface protects against corrosion, but storage in a dry place is recommended. Check the condition of the abrasive grains regularly – a worn carving disc generates more heat and reduces the quality of the finish.
