A hex key made from carbon steel, designed for tightening and loosening hex socket screws. A workshop tool with a hex profile, used in mechanical work, assembly and maintenance.
A 13 mm hex key fits M16-M20 socket head screws, commonly used in heavy engineering, industrial machinery and steel structures. This size belongs to the medium hex key range, providing adequate torque while maintaining control of the tool.
Carbon steel provides appropriate hardness and mechanical strength, minimising the risk of deformation of the key arms during use. This material offers a good strength-to-price ratio, making it the standard in the manufacture of hand tools for workshop applications.
The hexagonal cross-section guarantees full contact with the walls of the screw socket across the entire contact surface, reducing the risk of rounding the edges of both the key and the screw head. The hex geometry ensures even distribution of force during tightening.
VOREL is a manufacturer of hand tools and power tools, offering products for the workshop and hobby segment. The brand provides solutions with proven functionality at an accessible price point, designed for regular use in workshop conditions.

Before use, make sure that the 13 mm key size matches the screw socket dimension. Clearance between the key and the socket leads to edge wear and damage to the joint. The key should enter the socket with slight resistance, without lateral play.
Insert the key into the socket to its full depth before starting to tighten. Apply force evenly, without jerking or striking. For seized screws, the use of penetrating oil and a gradual increase in torque is recommended. Do not use extensions that increase leverage, as these can cause the key to break.
After finishing work, clean the key of dirt and grease residue. Carbon steel requires periodic protection against corrosion by lightly oiling the surface. Store the tool in a dry place, protected from contact with moisture and chemicals.
