A 1200 mm hexagonal crowbar made from 45# carbon steel. A tool intended for construction, dismantling and transport work requiring high leverage force and resistance to deformation.
45# steel contains approximately 0.45% carbon, which provides hardness in the range of 55-60 HRC after heat treatment. This material is characterised by resistance to plastic deformation under impact loads, typical when prising or breaking up building elements.
The 25 mm hexagonal cross-section prevents the tool from rotating in the hand during work. The flat surfaces enable a firm grip even when wearing work gloves, which increases control over the tool under heavy loads.
The one-metre length provides sufficient leverage when prising heavy elements. In typical construction work, this length allows a prising force exceeding 500 kg to be generated with moderate pressure from the operator.
The 25 mm thickness represents a compromise between bending strength and the weight of the tool. A crowbar with this cross-section weighs approximately 4.5-5 kg, which allows several hours of work without excessive fatigue while maintaining resistance to breakage.

During prising work, the crowbar should be set at an angle of 15-30 degrees to the ground, which minimises the risk of the tool slipping. When prising heavy elements, it is worth using wooden blocks to increase the stability of the fulcrum. The crowbar must not be used as a hammer - impacts against hard material can cause steel fragments to fly off.
After finishing work, the crowbar should be cleaned of residual concrete, mortar and rust using a wire brush. Storage in a dry place prevents surface corrosion. In the case of intensive use, periodic lubrication of the surface with machine oil is recommended, particularly when working in damp conditions.
When using the crowbar, reinforced work gloves and steel-toe safety boots must be worn. For demolition work, safety goggles are recommended to protect against flying fragments of material. A safe distance from other workers must be maintained - the work zone should be at least 2 metres.
