A step drill bit made from HSS M2 high-speed steel with a TiAlN coating, designed for drilling holes of various diameters in steel sheet, non-ferrous metals and plastics. The 2 mm increments allow holes to be drilled accurately without the need to change tools.
A high-speed steel containing tungsten and molybdenum, characterised by increased hardness and wear resistance. Molybdenum improves hardenability and impact strength, while tungsten prevents the cutting edges from dulling quickly. The material retains its cutting properties even at elevated working temperatures.
A protective layer with a hardness of approx. 3000 HV that provides wear resistance and allows the tool to work at temperatures of up to 900°C. Particularly useful for machining without coolant or where coolant supply is limited; it extends tool life and permits higher cutting speeds.
15 steps with diameters of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 and 32 mm. Clear markings on the drill body make it easy to drill a hole of the required diameter accurately. It removes the need to keep a set of many separate drill bits.
A universal straight shank that fits standard drill chucks. An overall length of 102 mm and a working length of 78 mm allow drilling in sheet metal up to a few millimetres thick.

The TiAlN coating allows dry drilling in sheet metal up to 2 mm thick. With thicker materials, coolant should be used or drilling should be interrupted in order to dissipate heat. The rotational speed should be matched to the hardness of the material – approx. 400-800 rpm for steel and 1000-1500 rpm for aluminium.
Before drilling, centre-punch the material or drill a pilot hole with a 3-4 mm twist drill. This prevents the tool from slipping and ensures accurate positioning. The workpiece should be securely clamped.
After use, clean the drill bit of swarf and any material residue. Storing it in the original blister pack protects the cutting edges from damage. Do not use the step drill bit on materials harder than structural steel or thicker than 4-5 mm – this may damage the cutting edges.
