Twist drill bit made from HSS high-speed steel, designed for drilling holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 14 mm cutting diameter makes it a versatile choice for standard assembly and workshop tasks.
HSS (high-speed steel) is resistant to the high temperatures generated during drilling. It retains its hardness and cutting-edge sharpness even under intensive use, which translates into a longer tool life.
The 14 mm size falls into the larger diameter range used in construction and installation work. It allows holes to be drilled for M12 bolts, wall plugs and cable entries in metal components.
The spiral flutes clear swarf from the hole as you drill, preventing clogging and overheating of the tool. The flute geometry affects how efficiently material is removed and the quality of the finished hole.
The standard cylindrical shank fits most drill drivers, drills and bench drills fitted with a keyless chuck. It performs well in both hand-held and stationary tools.

When drilling metal, the rotational speed must be matched to the hardness of the material. Lower speeds are used for steel (300-500 rpm), while for aluminium the speed can be increased to 1000-1500 rpm. The use of a coolant or cutting oil is recommended, particularly when drilling deep holes or working with difficult-to-machine materials.
Before drilling, mark the centre of the hole with a centre punch to stop the drill bit from slipping. Drill with even, moderate pressure, avoiding excessive force, which can cause overheating or break the tool.
The drill bit needs periodic sharpening when increased heat generation or a drop in drilling quality becomes noticeable. The cutting edge angle is sharpened, keeping both edges symmetrical. After each use, clean swarf off the drill bit and protect it against corrosion with a thin film of oil.
The drill bit works with drills and drill drivers with a minimum power of 600-800 W. With a 14 mm diameter, tools with torque control and the ability to set low speeds are recommended. When drilling thicker materials, a bench or pillar drill may be required.
