A pack of ten 7 mm metal drill bits made from HSS-G high-speed steel to DIN 338. Designed for drilling carbon steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics with hammer and non-hammer drills.
The HSS-G (High Speed Steel Ground) designation refers to ground high-speed steel, which withstands the high temperatures generated during drilling. The material retains its hardness and keeps the cutting edges sharp even under intensive use, which gives the bit a longer service life.
The DIN 338 standard defines the geometry of the drill bit: a 118° point angle, spiral flutes for chip clearance and a cylindrical shank. This design keeps the bit tracking steadily through the material and removes swarf from the hole efficiently, reducing the risk of the tool overheating.
A 7 mm diameter is one of the most common sizes for assembly and installation work. It allows holes to be drilled for M6 screws, medium wall plugs and standard-size installation cables.
The cylindrical shank fits standard 1.5-13 mm three-jaw drill chucks. The smooth surface of the shank ensures a secure hold with no risk of slipping under load.

For structural steel, the recommended speed is 800-1200 rpm with a feed rate of 0.1-0.15 mm/rev. For stainless steel, reduce the speed to 600-800 rpm and use emulsion or oil cooling. Aluminium requires higher speeds of 1500-2000 rpm with a lubricant that prevents swarf from sticking.
HSS-G drill bits can be sharpened with a drill bit sharpener or a bench grinder while maintaining a point angle of 118°. After use, clean the swarf off the bits and protect them from moisture. Storing them in a dedicated case prevents damage to the cutting edges and keeps the tools organised.
