A drill bit with a TiN titanium coating, designed for drilling in stainless, structural and cold-rolled steel. Made from high-speed steel (HSS) with a hex shank that ensures a secure hold in impact drills and cordless screwdrivers.
The titanium nitride layer increases surface hardness to approximately 2400 HV, which translates into a drill bit life 3-4 times longer than that of the uncoated version. The characteristic gold colour of the coating makes the tool easy to identify. The coating reduces the coefficient of friction, which lowers heat build-up in the drill bit during use.
The 1/4" hex shank prevents the drill bit from rotating in the chuck of a drill or impact driver. This is particularly useful when drilling hard steels, where high torques occur. Compatible with keyless and standard chucks.
The cross-ground tip eliminates the need for centre punching before drilling. The drill bit self-centres at the drilling point, which shortens working time and improves hole accuracy. This is particularly useful when drilling on rounded surfaces.
The point angle, optimised for drilling in metals, provides better chip evacuation and lower cutting resistance than the standard 118°. This reduces the tendency of the drill bit to overheat and extends working periods without the need for cooling.

For structural steel with a tensile strength of up to 600 N/mm², the recommended speed is 1500-2000 rpm. When drilling stainless steel, reduce the speed to 800-1200 rpm and use a feed of approximately 0.1-0.15 mm/rev. Dry drilling is possible for holes up to 2-3 times the drill bit diameter in depth.
For holes deeper than 20mm, the use of a cutting fluid or cutting oil is recommended, which extends drill bit life and improves the surface quality of the hole. With stainless steel, cooling is particularly important due to the material's tendency to work-harden during machining.
The 1/4" hex shank fits impact drills, cordless screwdrivers with keyless chucks and drill chuck adapters. Before starting work, check that the chuck holds the drill bit securely and that there is no axial play.
